Meet the Breast Lift Assessment Team

This site is led and medically reviewed by Tongchun Mao, MD, who performs breast lift and volume restoration surgery here and who is responsible for the medical content. The other three physicians contribute what this assessment often needs: the center’s surgical standards and revision experience, the assessment of the skin and what surface treatment can honestly do, and the dermatologic diagnosis of a skin change that has to be identified first.

Tongchun Mao

Tongchun Mao (毛彤春)

Deputy Director & Head of Aesthetic Surgery · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending · Lead Physician of This Site

Breast lift and volume restoration · skin and volume assessment · lift, implant and combined planning

Dr. Tongchun Mao is an aesthetic surgeon at Chongqing West District Hospital, where he is Deputy Director and Head of Aesthetic Surgery in its Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center and the responsible physician for this site. He personally performs more than 700 operations a year, within hospital standards of assessment, anaesthesia and follow-up.

On this site his part is the question the whole decision turns on: whether the skin, the volume, or both are responsible. He records where the nipple sits relative to the fold, how the skin behaves when the breast is supported by hand, and where the emptiness is, and he treats a lift offered for an empty breast and an implant offered for stretched skin as the two commonest mistakes in this area. Where the honest answer is that a well-fitted bra manages the change and no operation is warranted, he says so.

Clinical focus

  • Assessment that separates stretched skin from lost volume
  • Nipple position relative to the fold as the basis of any operative plan
  • Volume replacement where skin quality is still good
  • Lift surgery, and combined lift and volume where both are needed
  • Revision assessment when a previous lift or implant has left a problem

One of the two, or both

A lift answers skin and an implant or fat transfer answers volume. Where the skin has stretched and the upper part has emptied, neither alone is a complete answer, and the plan has to say which is being addressed first and what is being left for later. Getting that order wrong is what makes a result disappoint even when the operation was performed well.

Shaoliang Wang

Shaoliang Wang (王韶亮)

Director, Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center · Vice Chief Physician, Associate Professor, Doctor of Medicine

Center leadership · surgical standards and complex revision

Dr. Shaoliang Wang is Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team he provides the surgical perspective and the tertiary-hospital backstop — the assessment when an operation is the honest answer, and the hospital-level care for the rare complication that needs it.

Within this site his part is the standard a plan has to meet and the backstop behind it. Patients who arrive with a problem after a lift or an augmentation performed elsewhere are usually assessed within his part of the service.

Clinical focus

  • Center leadership and multidisciplinary case review
  • Surgical assessment when an operation is the honest answer to descent or excess skin
  • Hospital-based care for the rare complication that needs theatre-level management
Ke He

Ke He (何锞)

Deputy Director & Head of Skin & Laser Aesthetics · Attending Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Skin and laser aesthetics · skin quality and surface treatment

Dr. Ke He is Deputy Director and head of skin and laser aesthetics within the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team her role is the device and injectable assessment, and the honest referral when a problem needs an operation rather than a needle.

Within this site her part is the skin itself: its quality, its elasticity, and what surface treatment can and cannot do about it. That assessment is what decides whether a device has any honest role here, and it usually concludes that it does not replace a lift.

Clinical focus

  • Device and injectable assessment before any treatment plan
  • Staged planning judged against standardised photographs
  • Honest referral when a problem needs an operation rather than a needle
Yongbo Jia

Yongbo Jia (贾勇波)

Deputy Director & Head of Dermatology · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Dermatology · the breast skin and changes that need diagnosing

Dr. Yongbo Jia is a dermatologist within the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team his role is medical skin assessment — diagnosing and managing pigment and barrier conditions, and treating skin that a device or an injection has irritated.

Within this site his part is the change that is not ageing: a dimple, a rash that does not settle, a nipple that has turned in, or redness over one breast. Those are diagnosed before any plan about shape is made.

Clinical focus

  • Medical skin assessment behind injectable treatment plans
  • Diagnosis and management of pigment and barrier conditions
  • Dermatologic care of skin after irritation or a delayed reaction

Start by finding out which of the two it is

Arrange an assessment. We will establish whether the skin, the volume or both are responsible, explain what each option can and cannot change, and set out the alternatives, including doing nothing.
